Troubleshooting segments

The count is much larger than expected

  1. Confirm the intended Club Code, Name, City, or State condition exists.
  2. Confirm ALL is selected unless the conditions are intentional alternatives.
  3. Look for a broad, incomplete, or unnecessary condition.
  4. Recalculate the size.
  5. Do not use the segment until the number makes sense.

The count is zero

  1. Check for conditions that contradict each other.
  2. Confirm exact club and status values.
  3. Check whether the selected field contains data.
  4. Reduce the segment to one known-good condition.
  5. Add conditions back one at a time and watch the estimate.

The count will not calculate

Read the message shown below the estimate. A field, operator, or value may be incomplete or unsupported for that field. Fix or remove the named condition before saving.

The broadcast sent to fewer people than the segment size

  1. Compare the saved segment size with the fresh broadcast count.
  2. Check email or SMS consent.
  3. Check for missing email addresses or phone numbers.
  4. Review deferred, failed, and delivered outcomes separately.
  5. Remember that frequency and conflict policies can reduce immediate send volume.

See Understand audience counts for the full funnel.

I cannot find a segment

  1. Search by its standardized name.
  2. Enable Show archived.
  3. Remember that archived segments are removed from new active selections.

The count looks stale

Use Recalculate Size. The Count updated time shows when the displayed estimate was last calculated, not when every part of the segment was last edited.

If a segment still looks unsafe after these checks, do not attach it to a broadcast. Ask another global marketing administrator to review the rules and expected size.
