Manage club areas
A club area represents a space inside the physical gym. Create one when staff need to identify the space separately or when its availability can differ from the club’s main schedule.
Common examples include:
| Area | Why it needs its own setup |
|---|---|
| Kids Club | Staffed childcare often opens later, closes earlier, or has midday gaps |
| Recovery Center | Recovery services may follow appointment or staffing hours |
| Pool, Cafe, Cycle Room, or training room | The space may close for maintenance, programming, or a special event while the club stays open |
Create the area
Open Admin → Clubs, select the club, choose Areas, and select Add Area or Add First Area.
Enter:
- a clear Name, such as
Kids CluborRecovery Center; - a stable, lower-case Code using letters, numbers, and hyphens, such as
kids-club; and - an optional description that helps another administrator understand the boundary of the area.

- 1Name the space the way staff recognize it.
- 2Use a lower-case, hyphenated code.
- 3Explain what the area represents or why it is separate.
Select Create only after the club and values are correct.
Set the area’s weekly hours
Open the area card or choose Manage Hours from its action menu. Enter the area’s regular weekly schedule and select Save Hours.
If an area has no saved weekly hours for a weekday, current availability logic falls back to the club’s regular hours for that weekday. Set explicit area hours whenever the area’s schedule is intentionally different.
Add area exceptions
Use Add Exception on the area-hours page for a holiday, closure, maintenance window, or special schedule. A dated area exception takes priority over the area’s weekly hours.
For example, if the club opens on Christmas Eve but Kids Club closes early, add the early-close exception to Kids Club. If the whole club is closed on Christmas Day, add the club exception and a matching closed exception to every area affected by the closure. This includes areas that normally inherit the club’s weekly hours: area availability does not inherit the club’s dated exceptions.
Verify the operating result
Reopen the area and confirm:
- name, code, and description identify the intended space;
- every day with different hours has explicit area hours; and
- upcoming exceptions agree with the approved staffing or service calendar.
If an exception list shows a date one day early in a browser west of UTC, choose Edit, confirm the unshifted Date field, and close without saving. Do not correct the record from the shifted list label alone; for a split schedule, use Edit only for this read-only date check.
Club date exceptions are not copied into area exceptions or consulted when FitStack calculates an area’s effective hours. During holiday planning, add a separate closure exception to every affected area—even one that normally inherits the club’s weekly schedule.
Edit or delete an area
Use the area’s action menu for Edit Details, Manage Hours, or Delete. Deletion also removes the area’s hours and exceptions and cannot be undone. Prefer an accurate schedule change when the area still exists.
